Two musicians wearing bizarre, usually black, outfits and face coverings. Dim black light is also often part of the performances by electronic musician and video artist Brigitta Bödenauer and bass clarinetist Susanna Gartmayer. In view of the seriousness of the pandemic, the artists will shed their masks to avoid false associations. Black Burst Sound Generator is the name of their duo project in which hard electronic sounds mix with the amplified, yet warm, voluminously dark tones of the bass clarinet. The structures and rhythms evolve gradually along a given dramatic composition – a strictly conceived performance. And yet the playful handling of the musical material makes reference to the fact that both musicians come from the experimental DJ and improv scene.
